Victorian Christmas Activity Day

An invitation to families to enjoy Christmas Craft Activities in the Museum decorated for Christmas.

Activities:
Lanterns, Cornucopias with candy canes, Christmas card making, Robin Trail, Pine cone Robins, Lucky dip.

Children must be accompanied by an adult but grown-ups can join in too. Craft activities are drop-ins. If full on arrival, we also have lots of trails and colouring-in sheets.

Christmas Music:
on the sitar, violin and mandolin 1.30-2.30pm

The English Ayres

A selection of English folk song settings and art songs from the Middle Ages to the 20th century exploring the themes of fleeting love and life, nostalgia and longing for English rural past.

'Holst and Hardy'

An evening of music and poetry exporing the link between Holst and Hardy. The programme will include four settings by Holst of Hardy poems.There will also be music from contempories of Holst - Vaughan Williams, Galfour Gardiner and Cyril Scott.

The programme will be performed by the distinguished tenor, Gordon Pullen, with Philip Wilby on piano and readings by David Barlow.

Space is limited in the Museum so early booking for this event is recommended.

Krysia Osostowicz ( Leader of the Dante Quartet) and Simon Crawford- Phillips ( pianist of the Kungsbacka Trio) play three Beethoven Violin Sonatas, Opus 30

Strings Attached with Raymond Burley & Gilbert Rowland

The repertoire of these two fine string players includes works by J.S. Bach, Vivaldi, Scarlatti, Straube and Guiliani. Both together and separately, they represent their work has been celebrated. Raymond is one of England’s most experienced guitarists. He has toured extensively throughout the UK, Europe, the USA and Canada and he has appeared many times at the Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room, has broadcast regularly on BBC Radio 2, Radio 3, and Radio 4, and has worked with many orchestras including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Gilbert’s background is equally impressive with appearances at the Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room, broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 and Capital Radio, and an acclaimed catalogue of recorded music.
